Fallow Deer (Europe)
Scientific Name: Cervus dama
Subspecies: Mesopotamian Fallow Deer (C. d. mesopotamica)
Distribution: The Fallow Deer originated from Asia Minor, but is found all over Europe today, either freely roaming or in fenced in areas.
Habitat: Woodland with dense undergrowth often in the immediate vicinity of pasture land. The Fallow Deer prefers open land.
Description: Large deer weighing around 100 - 150 kg and measuring around 120 cm over the shoulder. The Fallow Deer has four different but distinct colour variations: White, yellowish brown, dark rufous brown and black, with brown the most common. A normally coloured Fallow Deer has a number of white spots on the back and along the flanks. A diagnostic feature is its long tail. The antlers get their characteristic palmate shape when the deer is four years old, but are not fully grown untill the deer is around 5 years old.

4. Монголски фазан
Ловни птици - пернати - дребен дивеч
(Phasianus colchicus torquatus GRmel.)
Разпространение на фазана
Видът е разпространен естествено в Източен Китай до границата с Виетнам. За разлика от колхидския фазан предпочита по-открити местообитания. В Китай обитава оризовите плантации. У нас типичните му местообитания са дерета и окрайнини на малки гори сред обработваемите площи, обрасли с гъста храстова растителност, синори и долове сред нивите, поречия на реки, напоителни канали, обрасли с тръстика и високи треви.
Пръстенчатият фазан е внесен в Европа през 1742 г., а у нас - през 1895 г. Първите птици са внесени от Унгария в Кричим. Оттам е разселван в цялата страна, включително и в ареала на колхидския фазан. След 30-те години на XX в. е развъждан изкуствено и разселван само в Северна България. От 1963 г., когато у нас е внесен семиреченският фазан, вече не се разселва никъде в страната. В природата не се срещат чисти пръстенчати фазани, но техни белези носят почти всички произведени и разселени птици, най-вече в Южна България.
Описание на фазана
Мъжките птици приличат на мъжките на колхидския фазан, но са малко по едри. Главата, шията и гърлото са тъмни, с виолетово зелен метален блясък. На шията имат бял пръстен, не по-широк от 1 cm, обикновено прекъснат отпред. Ушичките им са къси, до 1 cm. Окраищата на перата по горната част на гърдите са с тясна тъмна ивица, не по-широка от 1 mm. Надкрилията са сиво-кафяви, надопашието-кафяво, а слабините - по-светли. Опашката е кафява, с ясно изразени тъмни напречни препаски. Оперението на женските фазани е по-светло с тъмни препаски. Младите птици се отличават трудно от женските на колхидския фазан. Обикновено са по-едри и с по-светло оперение.
